Funding for the study was awarded in 2014 from a programme grant from the National Institute of Health Research.

Programme grant title: Assessment of the cost-effectiveness of HIV prevention and testing strategies, including HIV self-testing, among men who have sex with men (MSM) in the UK.

There is no payment to the participants for taking part, however a side benefit of the study is that all participants will be entered in an annual £1000 prize draw that is established to encourage participation.
